Bathing Beauties & Ballerinas: Degas’ Women

I gave a lecture on April 2nd at the Met for Metropolitan Moms exploring the artwork of Edgar Degas and specifically analyzing the Havemeyer collection of Degas works. The works include paintings, sculptures and pastels of ballerinas as well as bathers. We examined technique (including a talk about Impressionism), the works’ political context as well as the purely visual content of the images.
